Description

5.56×45mm NATO Ammunition Overview

The 5.56×45mm NATO is a standard intermediate rifle cartridge developed by NATO in the late 1970s, based on the civilian .223 Remington. It was designed for use in assault rifles, offering a balance between range, lethality, recoil, and ammunition weight. It became the standard cartridge for NATO forces, widely used in rifles like the M16, M4 Carbine, FN SCAR, and Steyr AUG.
